Maybe you have already seen it on social media channels Instagram and TikTok, the so-called ‘’glass skin’’ has been a mega trend for quite some time. This skincare trend comes from Korea and gives you a smooth, clear and glowy skin without visible pores.
What is the definition of a ‘glass skin’?
The term ‘’glass skin’’ comes from the Korean expression ‘’yuri pibu’’, which means ‘’glass skin’’ and refers to skin that is so healthy, glowing, and transparent, that it is reminiscent of glass. In Korea, glass skin has been a beauty ideal for years. The Koreans always use multiple steps for their skin care, layering moisturizing products to get that desired glass skin.
You want to use multiple light layers of moisturizing skincare products, so that your skin looks dewy and plumped, like a baby skin :). To hydrate your skin, you need products that contain ingredients such as hyaluronic acid or glycerin. A glass skin is not about creating a flawless skin without pores, because that would be unrealistic, but it is meant to get your skin as healthy as possible. Healthy skin takes time, where you need to be consistent with your skincare routine.
Every skin is unique and therefore the exact glass skin routine looks different for everybody.
It is important to match your skincare routine to your skin type. If you have any questions about this, please contact us via our webchat, Instagram, or email. We are happy to help!
The routine
To give a good example of what the glass skin routine can look like, we have selected some natural skincare products that are sure to help you get healthy and glowing skin.
- Double cleansing
If you are not familiar with double cleansing, it is simply double cleansing your skin. First, you remove your make-up and/or SPF sunscreen with an oil cleanser and then additionally cleanse the skin with a mousse, gel, or lotion cleanser. One of our favorite oil cleansers is the Goji Face Cleanser from Sans [ceuticals], cleanse the second round with the Bc Refresh Cleanser from Biologi. Want to know more about cleansing? Read the article: Why you want to double cleanse your face.
- Exfoliate
Exfoliating the skin is an important step to achieve a smooth and glowing skin. It is recommended to remove dead skin cells 2-3 times a week to promote cell renewal. A soft cleanser for body and face is the Nourished Daily Face + Body Cleanser. Looking for something more experimental? Check out the Ipsum Skin Micropolish.
- Toning
A hydrating and soothing toner rebalances your skin’s pH level and provides extra hydration!
Tip: on days where your skin feels dry, use a toner over your makeup, spray 1 to 2 sprays for hydration throughout the day. The Wild Rose Botanical Mist from Wildcrafted Organics or the Super Fruit Toner from Eco Tan are perfect for this!
- Serum
The best type of serum to use depends on your skin type. But if you want to go for a glass skin, choose a vitamin C serum which hydrates and brightens the skin. On Nourished we have different vitamin C serums. Discover which serum is best for your skin.
- Moisturizer
To seal all the moisturizers into the skin, apply another layer of light day cream. Hydration is key! The Daily Moisturizer from Nourished Daily or the Cellular Repair from Sans [ceuticals] are perfect for this.
In every skincare routine, SPF protection cannot be missed. Apply sunscreen every morning to protect your skin from UV damage and prevent pigmentation. Discover what suits your skin!
- Face mask (optional)
Want to give your skin another hydration boost or schedule a self-care moment? Use a face mask 1-2 times a week. There are several options, think about a sheet mask, clay mask or hyaluronic acid mask. Choose a mask that fits best into your skincare routine.
It seems like a lot of steps, but it’s definitely worth it if you want a super hydrated, soft and glowing skin!
