Why a menstrual cup?
A menstrual cup can be worn for up to 12 hours and could replace multiple tampons. This depends on the cup size. Menstrual cups can be worn day and night during any activity. The cup will hold while urinating, exercising, and swimming. The menstrual cup is an environmentally friendly choice.Care for your period and care for the planet with our selection of sustainable alternatives to traditional tampons and pads by using menstrual cups and menstrual underwear.
Inserting the menstrual cup
How does it work? You insert the menstrual cup into your cervix by squeezing and folding the cup in the bottom into a C shape. Insert it with, for example, one leg slightly elevated. When you are relaxed it works easier. Once the menstrual cup is in the right place, let go of the cup. The cup will unfold and create a vacuum, keeping it securely in place. When you want to remove the menstrual cup, break the vacuum by pressing the sides of the cup. It may feel a bit unfamiliar the first few times, but you will get used to it!
Cleaning
After purchasing, always boil your menstrual cup first, and then also after each use.
During your period, you can simply rinse your cup with water. After removal, empty the menstrual cup into the toilet and rinse it thoroughly. At the end of the day, you can optionally use unscented soap. For extra thorough cleaning, boil the menstrual cup with some baking soda or clean it with a mixture of water and vinegar.
